Clean Eating Summertime Smoothie

So I am on a huge smoothie kick. I’ve been drinking them for two meals a day for two weeks and I can’t stop, won’t stop.

How did this happen? You ask.

California, I reply.

See, I ate and drank a lot of things I don’t normally while I was on vacation in Cali. I got home and felt … icky.

Like Slimer from Ghostbusters. Or this tree.

So I decided to do a clean eating cleanse, but not a “I’m only drinking lemon juice and pepper for 3 weeks” cleanse because that sounds worse than being locked in a room with Ryan Seacrest and Oprah’s love child if Ryan Seacrest and Oprah had a love child.

Nothing but whole foods up in here, baby. I found Dr. Oz’s 3-Day Detox, which I did for, like, a day and a half before I cheated and actually chewed something. But whatever. I have adopted two smoothies a day for 2 weeks because they are yummy and filling and packed with healthy stuff and I feel super clean.

I’m not sure how long it will last but I’m going with it.

Here is my FAVORITE smoothie recipe of the three Dr. Oz (by Dr. Oz I mean some poor intern that is being paid in vanilla wafers) provides.

Clean Eating Summertime Smoothie

1 C water
1 Tbsp flax seed
1 C raspberries
1 banana
1/4 C spinach
1 Tbsp almond butter
2 tsp lemon juice

Blend. Drink. Smile.

It’s SO creamy, so fresh, sweet and filling! It’s like summertime and unicorns in a glass. Okay maybe not unicorns because I don’t know what they taste like. It tastes like a Kool-Aid mustache. That’s better.

To cut down on blend time in the morning, I prep my ingredients the night before and put them in a bag in the freezer. I put the liquid ingredients  in a Magic Bullet cup in the fridge. When I wake up, I dump the bag into the cup and blend away. I got this genius tip from my friend Jenny and she gets a high five.

What’s your favorite smoothie recipe?

When there’s somethin’ strange in the neighborhood, who ya gonna call?

  1. Yum! I want to make this! The funny thing is you ate badly in SoCal and you eat cleanly in the Midwest! Seems so opposite haha but I get why, since you were on vaca:) xoxo
