Me Likey Monday 03/10/14

What I’m eating, listening to, laughing at, sweating through and loving on this week’s Me Likey Monday.

It’s a gorgeous day here in Kansas City! It’s sunny, warm and full of possibilities! Let’s do this!

1. Web-carpet dress: Kelly Ripa’s dress at the Oscars was by far my favorite of the evening. While Kelly herself is looking a little too thin for my taste, her gown was juuuuicy! I am in love with the fold-over shoulders, exposed zipper and vibrant coral. The best part? Kel Kel bought it online. Herself. With a credit card. On Net-a-Porter.com. Like a normal person. A normal person that buys $3,000 dresses.

2. I just want the simplethings: I caught up on HBO’s 3rd season of GIRLS this week – thanks to my main man Maxwell’s mom and dad – and the soundtrack is killer! My favorite new jam I’ve been elbow dancin’ to is Miguel’s Simplethings. I’m not typically a fan, but Dru Decaro’s rock n’ roll guitar work paired with Miguel’s R&B style vocals is on ree-puh-eat in my brain this week.

3. I’ve fallen and I can’t get up: I took a really, REALLY hard fall on my long run this week. My full body weight and momentum landed on my kneecaps, and I have never felt pain like that in my life. Luckily, I have rad buddies who do nice things like sprint back to the car and frozen cauliflower to reduce the swelling. And striped socks to make me happy.

4. Wire(less) me up: Momma bought Scottie somethin’ fancy! He scored himself a shiny new Cateye Strada Double Wireless computer. Woot!! I lost my old one at Bike MS last year and was super not upset because that meant I could upgrade to this baby that reads heart rate and cadence. Now all I need is a blood transfusion, and the yellow jersey is mine.

5. Betty Draper ‘Do: My hair is finally long enough to use hot rollers! Whenever I’m all rolled up, I feel like I should be smoking a cigarette in heels while washing dishes like a Cold War housewife. Instead, I eat cheese sticks in house Crocs while online shopping for tattoos. #TrueStory

6. BFFunny: Now this is funny. I love friends that make you giggle like a third grader. I have somma those.

7. Lady date: My doll face Katie and I had a lady date Friday night. We started with yoga, stopped at Hammerpress to buy some cards, then ate at Cafe Gratitude, my favorite 100% organic plant based restaurant in Kansas City. Don’t worry that it’s also the only 100% organic plant based restaurant in KC. Nothing rounds out a week like spaghetti squash and a vegan vanilla shake. Mmmmhmmm.

8. Artsy fartsy: Can you believe that until yesterday I had never been to the Nelson-Adkins Museum of Art? Neither. Could. My. Friends. So being the awesomey awesomes that they are, they took me. And it was … awesome. I want to go back wearing horn-rimmed glasses, sit on a bench with a Moleskin, stare at some paint and use words like “saturated” and “biomorphic”. Ugh. Nevermind. I’m annoying myself.

  1. I hope your knees are feeling better!

The Nelson is one of my favorite places in Kansas City. We’ve had our family pictures taken a few times in the Block building.

Whoever coordinates the music for Girls does an amazing job. It’s one of the few shows where the closing credits don’t need to be fast forwarded because I enjoy the song choices so much. Last night’s was no exception (Beck’s “Blue Moon”).
