Me Likey Monday 1/6/14

What I’m eating, listening to, laughing at, sweating through and loving on this week’s Me Likey Monday.

Fast fact about Mondays that will make you hate them less: it’s the least rainy day of the week (according to people who keep track of these things). So when you start to get those Sunday night blues just think, “Well, at least it won’t rain tomorrow!!” Until it does. In which case, you should probably just have a good cry.

{Rain. Mondays. Tiny legs. Ain’t nothin’ bringing him down.}

And now, on with the show!

1. Let it snow: It was a snowy weekend in Kansas City, and don’t think it stopped us RUNchers from hitting the trail for a long run! There is a calming quiet that follows a good snow, making it my second favorite time to run. The first? Hammer Time. My favorite piece of winter running gear is my Nike thermal neckwarmer. It keeps me toasty!

2. Kick the habit: “They” say it takes 30 days to form a habit, and my dumb friends convinced me it would be a good idea to start a dumb 30 day ab and squat challenge. They are dumb. I’m still doing it. But they are dumb. So are “they”. I love them. I hate them. Dumb.

3. Magnited States of America: I love companies that don’t take themselves too seriously. I love even harder when those companies air their dirty laundry for my entertainment. Like Alamo Drafthouse posting this voicemail from an angry customer. Apparently this has been around since ’11, but Katie just brought it into my life yesterday. And that’s why we’re friends. “Thanks for making me feel like a customer.” Um. I don’t think that’s what you mean, peaches. Warning: This audio contains some “not suitable for work or your three year old” language. But it’s worth it.

4. Beautiful day for a neighbor: We also share ugly Christmas sweaters and pick each others locks. This is why I love where I live.

5. Mutha earth: I try to be as environmentally friendly as I can (like my homemade laundry detergent), but for some it can be pretty daunting to get started. If going green is a new years resolution, check out these 10 easy ways to go green by Houzz. This list is actually doable, unlike using your pee to change the channel. I can’t make that up.

6. You don’t want the news if you’re not a part of it: This song makes me wanna shoulder shimmy.

7. Chicken hawk: Friday night, I joined Ashley, Sara, Kerry and the Mizzou Alumni Assocation at McFadden’s to cheer on my Tigers in the Cotton Bowl. We won. Wanna know what brought me more joy than that victory? The local news putting my cute little table on TV as we wave black and gold pom poms and yell, “Go Mizzou!” Here’s where it gets good: Ashley is a Kansas Jayhawk. It is now officially documented on video until the end of time that Ashley was cheering on the Tigers. And people saw. And she claims she “didn’t mean to” wear a gold sweater. A Jayhawk cheering on a Tiger. Life is good.

Do you still run / walk / Prancersize during winter?

What is the weirdest thing about your neighbors? …if you don’t have a weird neighbor, you ARE the weird neighbor. #imjustsayin
