Me Likey Monday 2/9/15

What I’m eating, listening to, laughing at, sweating through and loving on this week’s Me Likey Monday.  

In honor of the Grammy Awards last night, I thought you guys would be interested to know that today was a HUGE day in the history of music! February 9, 1964, The Beatles made their first live American TV appearance, on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” And the rest is … well … you know. They got pretty big.

Without further ado … THE LIST.

1. It’s fine: I have watched this commercial at least 58 times, and I giggle every. single. time. I mean, he’s just so dang slow. Kills me.

2. 4-7-8: I tend to have trouble falling asleep, and some nights even melatonin won’t do the trick. When I came across the headline “How I Learned To Fall Asleep in Under 1 Minute“, obvi I had to read it and obvi I had to try the 4-7-8 breathing trick. And friiiiiiiend, that ish works! Try it and lemme know what you think.

3. #beastmode: If you watched the SuperBowl, this tweet needs no explanation as to why it’s my favorite. All you can do is shake your head. Oh, Petey, Petey, Petey.

4. It was free: You guys already know about my volatile relationship with Jillian Michaels – I mean, she stole my shoes, after all. So when I popped in her 30 Day Shred this week, I thought, “I’ve been working out hard lately. Level 3, bring it.” Well. She dominated me. About 20 minutes in she says, “Don’t quit! You didn’t buy this DVD so you could quit!” I yelled maniacally, “I didn’t BUY IT! It was given to me for free!” And that’s when I knew – Jillian and her man V hips will always win. I mean, look at that death stare. Terrifying.

5. Simple snacks: Two of my favorite snacks this week have been frozen grapes and radishes with salt. They are so simple, yet so healthy and yummy! The radishes have been a great on-the-go snack, and grapes are perfect for after dinner when I want something sweet.

6. I can see your halo: I cannot get enough Kettlebell Halos these days. This exercise works your upper back and shoulders. You can use a Kettlebell or a free weight for thi great gym or at-home exercise.

7. Woke Up in Spain: A great radio station here in Kansas City, 90.9 The Bridge, supports and plays music from local artists. One of my new favorites is Katy Guillen and the Girls. I caught one of their shows this week, and they ROCKED THE HOUSE. Katy can seriously shred that guitar – she is insane! Check out the ladies on Spotify.

  1. In pulmonary rehab I learned that inhale & hold the same amount of time each and exhale twice as long thru the mouth relaxes, makes breathing easier & assists in sleep and for me it works. I will try the 4 7 8. Also, I freeze Bing cherries & orange slices for snacks.
